2005 US 131 MOTORSPORTS PARK
MARTIN, MICHIGAN - F.A.S.T. RACE
June 17th
The third F.A.S.T. race of 2005 was held at US 131 Motorsports park in Martin, Michigan. Over 65 cars raced at this event, the largest turnout ever. The Michigan area has a large number of Pure Stock and F.A.S.T. muscle cars, and they came out in force. The F.A.S.T. board of directors secured many prizes that were raffled off to pre-registered participants. Below is a list of the prizes:
One set of 4 new G70 14 Firestone Wide Oval redline tires, provided by the F.A.S.T. Board of directors.
One 55 gallon drum of Power 110 leaded racing fuel, provided by the F.A.S.T. Board with help from Wayne Nelson
$250 cash from Automotive Machine!
Two (awarded individually) LM-1 Digital Wideband Air/Fuel Ratio Meters from Innovate MotorSports!
One $300 gift certificate and one $200 Gift certificate from Piers Diesel Research!
Four (awarded individually) Lofgren Transmission blankets!
A certificate redeemable for one Gessler Head Porting competition valve-job!!
Race Tech Engine Machining and Dyno Service is providing a certificate good for applying their high tech coatings to your engine parts!
QC Coatings is providing a certificate redeemable for an application of their high temp coating on the inside and the outside of one pair of exhaust manifolds!
A gift certificate from Jet Hot Coatings for one pair of manifolds to be JET HOT coated!!
EXTRUDE HONE is offering a gift certificate good towards Extrude Honing a pair of exhaust manifolds!!
Year One Gift certificates were raffled off.
The final round was all Chevrolet! Number 1 qualifier Wayne Nelson in his ultra quick 1969 Corvette VS veteran racer Terry Pennington's 1969 Camaro ZL1. Wayne was running consistently quick ET's all day, even hitting the 10's, but experience helped Terry get to the finish line first today.

US131 F.A.S.T. at Martin, Michigan
WOW!!! What a GREAT time we had at the US-131 Year One F.A.S.T. race on Friday June 17, 2005! Over 65 cars attended the event! A new record field for F.A.S.T.!!! The weather actually co-operated ( sort of ) for this event with only a brisk headwind. The staff at US-131 did a great job setting up the facility and track for the F.A.S.T. and F/S racers, families, and spectators!
Wayne Nelson broke the 10 second barrier for a LEGAL F.A.S.T. car at an official sanctioned YearOne F.A.S.T. shout-out event!!!
If you remember, Wayne also scored a 10 second pass at the Hemming’s Motornews Musclepalooza race in May! He won $1000 in New York. And now Wayne has also collected the $1000 bounty from YearOne! Maybe we should give him the old “Bounty Hunter” nickname??? Congrats go out to Wayne and his family!!
