2007 Year-One F.A.S.T.
Summer Nationals

The Year One F.A.S.T. Summer Nationals was held at Beaver Springs Dragway in conjunction with the York Reunion / Nostalgia Nationals. Year One sponsored this event allowing all F.A.S.T. and Factory Stock racers to enter and race for free. THANK YOU, YEAR ONE! Year Ones Brad O'Cock was on hand to take pictures of the event and supplied the F.A.S.T. race winners with Year One gift certificates! Year On is a major sponsor and supporter of F.A.S.T. racing, please tell them you appreciate their support of F.A.S.T. events the next time you order parts from them.
Saturday was an all day test and tune session allowing F.A.S.T. racers to tune their cars to the tricky Beaver Springs track. BSD's track owner "Beaver Bob" stopped by and checked out the F.A.S.T. cars, he was very excited about our class and was eager to see them run. The BSD track announcer was very impressed with the F.A.S.T. class concept and potential performance. Many F.A.S.T. racers had fun during the test and tune session as they got the chance to race next to 'race' cars with slicks, open headers and lots of decals. Many a nostalgic racer was scratching their head after getting beat by a completely stock looking car on Bias-Ply tires! Dave Dudek supplied the drama in the pits on Saturday when his rear differential started to make noise and howl. Dave removed the differential carrier and abnormal wear could be seen on the pinion gear. A search went out for a new or used ring and pinion gear set but nothing could be found. Dave adjusted the backlash and determined that it would survive at least one more day and installed it back into his 1969 Hemi Roadrunner.
Sunday was raceday, two qualifying runs were afforded to the F.A.S.T. racers. After the first qualifying session, Steve Hodges was sitting in the number 1 spot with an 11.52. Steve has been making great strides with his Hemi car and it seemed to be coming around for him at the Beaver.
Dave Dudek Jr. was again the number one qualifier with an 11.39!
first National Event of 2007. US 131 Dragway in Martin Michigan was again host to this ever growing event. Record numbers were posted in participation and in the number of spectators in attendance. Weather was clear with temperatures in the low 80's. Friday was an all-day test and tune session, this year it was decided to count all runs of the day towards qualifying to create a more realistic ladder for qualifying. Many racers ran their personal bests. Dave Dudek's Hemi Roadrunner was flying at the Eaton Spring Nationals, he was the only car to break into the 10's, with a 10.93 ET The F.A.S.T. class had some very quick cars in attendance, with 11 cars qualified in the 11's. The F.A.S.T. Quick-8 was a F.A.S.T. and tight field with only 6 tenths of a second separating the #1 car and #8 car, all Quick-8 cars qualified with MPH's over 120! Every year as new cars are built, the F.A.S.T. quick-8 field gets tighter and tighter.
Lane Carey (AKA:Fast Lane) from Delaware fought his way thru the F.A.S.T. Quick-8 field winning the F.A.S.T. Quick-8 with his 1970 Ford 429 Torino Cobra, defeating runner-up Greg Gessler from New Jersey in his 1972 Buick GS Stage1 455. This was the closest quick-8 pairing ever! The largest ET difference between competitors was .12, most races were won by .02-.03 hundredths. This was a very exiting race to participate in and it was a real blast for the spectators.
