Dave Dudek has been racing in F.A.S.T. since its inception. If you’ve ever attended a F.A.S.T. event most likely you have met Dave Jr and his Dad Dave Sr as they race in the  F.A.S.T.  class as a true father/son combo.   A simple match race set up by Musclecar Review in the July 2001 issue between Phil Brewer and Dave Dudek sparked an idea for a whole new class of racing, the F.A.S.T. (Factory Appearing Stock Tire) class. With countless hours of work Dave help mold the class into what it is today. You may recognize Dave Dudek`s Purple 70 Hemi Challenger (pictured) as it is/was one of the flag ship cars in the class with numerous “Fastest ET`s, Race Wins, Top MPH`s” the Challenger is not just “all go” either as it has won every single car show it`s entered including a 1st place at the prestigious  Detroit Autorama, the Challenger was hand picked to attend a special display at the Elenor Ford Estate on Lake St Clair and the list goes on. Year One, Automotive Machine, & Diamond Pistons use the Challenger in their national advertising campaigns and she`s been featured in or mentioned in over 35 magazines nation wide. With honors such as one of “Hot Rods Top 10 cars of 2003” to add to it`s accolades were very proud to have this car racing with our organization  .  At the Mopar Nationals 2005 Dave received an offer he couldn`t refuse and sold the car to the Alonso Brothers. The Alonso`s are true gear heads at heart and continued to let Dave field the car in the class all the way through the 2006 season. The Nov 2006 Englishtown race was the last race for the Challenger before it went into retirement and she went out with a spark and posted the Top MPH for the entire event ( 130.9 ) in the fastest field ever assembled. As of lately the Challenger took another “best of show” in the biggest Mopar car show in Florida 2007!

Today you`ll see Dave and his Dad racing this sinister looking 69 Hemi Road Runner, you see Dave always thought the old purple Challenger was one of the prettiest cars in the class and after it`s sale Dave was determined to build his true dream car and possibly the meanest looking car in the F.A.S.T. class a Black on Black 1969 Hemi Road Runner. Brand new to the class in 2006 the RR made quite a splash and took “runner-up” and top MPH (11.12@132.33) at it`s 1st event  ever attended. The next F.A.S.T. event the RR attended it  qualified #1, took top MPH and the race win!  Finally with a special invite by Hot Rod magazine this 69 Plymouth raced in a “F.A.S.T. on slicks/ Hemi vs Buick Shoot-Out” in which the Road Runner sweep the field and ran as fast as 10.21@133.9 on slicks. (Feb 2007 issue). Dave says he`s looking forward to the 2007 season..

Body was cleaned down to bare metal

Body being transported on rollers into the trailer.

Underside of body was stripped spotlessly clean

Freshly painted body, ready for re-assembly.

Almost ready, rolling chassis complete.

Underside is detailed with original factory marking.

Chromemoly rollbar installed. Rollbar required by NHRA tracks for all cars running quicker than 11.50. Note how rollbar is routed and painted black to maximize stock appearance.

Engine was freshened with a Callies 4.25" stroke crankshaft. Note reliefs in oilpan rail for rod clearance. All internal engine surfaces were painted to seal casting and aid in oil drainback.

Custom crankshaft scrapper is utilized to help separate the oil from the crankshaft counterweights.
Block is O-ringed to contain high cylinder pressures. Lifter bores have been bushed for proper lifter alignment. Attention to details is what makes the difference in F.A.S.T. engines.

Full length screen windage tray is being installed.

Jeff at Modern Cylinder Head is flow testing the exhaust port thru the factory cast iron exhaust manifold.

The stock #559 Hemi heads were rebuilt and fully ported by Modern Cylinder Head. Stock valve sizes were retained, (2.25" Intake valve - 1.94" Exhaust valve) A massive amount of air and fuel flow thru these heads. 416 CFM thru the intake port and 285 CFM thru the exhaust port!
