Lanes 1971 Mustang is equipped with the 429 engine and automatic transmission. Running mid 10's is no easy feat but Lane makes it look easy. Expect this car to continue to lower its ET's as Lane is still breaking this engine in.

Lanes Mustang looks like it belongs in the show field, not pounding out mid ten second quarter miles!
In Lanes own words:

"For several years, I've been racing my 1970 Cobra 429scj Torino with F.A.S.T. In the fall of 2008, I decided to STEP IT UP and get serious. I began looking for something lighter to put the Big MONSTER in. After searching for several months, I found a suitable 1971 Mach1 on e-bay. After several negotiations I was able to purchase it at the RIGHT price. One Problem, the car was in NEVADA, I'm in Delaware. Solution, Steve Vanderwall. He was scheduled to visit the west coast on a parts trip and agreed to bring the car back east. February 2009, Steve dropped the new project off to my home and the real work began. In three months I pulled the drivetrain, interior, rear, suspension, brakes and various other items from the car to begin the FAST transformation. PS, I had to pull the drivetrain from the Cobra for the swap also. The Mach was a original 302 2 barrel with A/C. After 3 months the Mach 1 was ready for the Martin Race, completely untested. So June 2009 we drive from Delaware to Michagin with a untested race car. On pass number 5,  10.97 in the heat. Good, but not what I was hoping for, so I come home, pull the motor to find more smoke.

First week of August 2009, race number two at Englishtown NJ. First pass since Michigan 10.82. Pass number two 10.70, three 10.61, four 10.58, five 10.52, then the big one 10.48.  Things are looking better! In total, I put 14 passes on the NEW car in 2009. The motor is currently apart for 2010, and I WILL GO FASTer!"
